Pool Flocculant Socks 125 g – 1 kg
iopool Pool Flocculant Socks are designed to clarify swimming pool water in pools equipped with a sand filter. They help bind fine suspended particles together, making them easier for the filtration system to capture.
Each 1 kg box contains 8 individual 125 g socks filled with gradually dissolving flocculant tablets. This treatment is especially useful when pool water remains cloudy or milky despite appropriate water balance and treatment.
What are pool flocculant socks used for?
Flocculant helps sand filters capture fine particles that would otherwise remain suspended in pool water.
It works by bringing these tiny particles together into larger clusters, making them easier to retain through filtration.
Flocculant supports water clarification but does not replace chlorine or any other pool disinfectant.
When should you use pool flocculant?
Flocculant socks may be useful in the following situations:
-
Pool water remains cloudy despite balanced water parameters.
-
Fine particles remain suspended in the water.
-
The water turns milky or whitish following a shock treatment.
-
Additional clarification is needed after checking that the filtration system is working correctly.
Cloudy water can also result from chemical imbalances or filtration problems. Identifying the cause before treatment is essential.
Which filtration systems are compatible?
These flocculant socks are intended for swimming pools fitted with a sand filter.
Do not use them with cartridge, bag or diatomaceous earth filters. The current iopool product instructions also exclude zeolite filtration.
Compatibility with other filter media, including filter glass, must be confirmed before use.
How much pool flocculant should you use?
What is the recommended dosage for iopool flocculant socks?
According to the manufacturer's technical sheet, the reference dosage is 1 sock of 125 g for 40–50 m³ of pool water, with the pH adjusted to between 7.0 and 7.4 beforehand.
For different pool volumes or installations with multiple skimmers, confirm the appropriate total quantity before treatment. Do not automatically add one sock to every skimmer regardless of pool volume.
How to use the flocculant socks
-
Check filter compatibility. Make sure your swimming pool is equipped with a suitable sand filtration system.
-
Prepare the filter. Backwash the sand filter, clean the skimmer baskets and note the pressure gauge reading.
-
Check the pH. Measure and adjust the water pH to between 7.0 and 7.4, as instructed by the manufacturer.
-
Check the quantity. Follow the manufacturer's dosage guidance for your pool volume.
-
Place the sock inside the skimmer. The tablets gradually dissolve, releasing the flocculant into the filtration circuit.
-
Allow filtration to work. iopool's instructions recommend running the filtration system for 24–48 hours to capture the grouped particles.
-
Clean the system afterwards. Check the filter pressure, backwash the filter again and remove the water-insoluble sock once the flocculant has dissolved.
If deposits accumulate on the pool floor, they may be removed using suitable pool vacuuming equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Can flocculant socks replace chlorine?
No. Flocculant helps remove fine suspended particles through filtration. It does not disinfect pool water.
Does the entire flocculant sock dissolve?
No. The flocculant tablets gradually dissolve, but the outer sock is not water-soluble and must be removed after the treatment.
Can these socks be used with cartridge filters?
No. This product is intended for sand filtration and must not be used with cartridge, bag or diatomaceous earth filters.
How often should I use flocculant socks?
The manufacturer's technical sheet does not specify a fixed weekly treatment schedule. The need for further clarification depends on water conditions and the result of the previous treatment.
Can these flocculant socks be used in a hot tub or spa?
The manufacturer's documentation covers swimming pools with sand filtration. Use in a hot tub or spa has not been confirmed for this product.
