Purissimeau Non-Stabilized Chlorine Sticks – 300 g, 5.4 kg
Purissimeau Chlorit Sticks are slow-dissolving, non-stabilized chlorine sticks made with calcium hypochlorite for routine swimming pool disinfection.
Supplied as 300 g sticks in a 5.4 kg bucket, they gradually release chlorine without adding cyanuric acid (chlorine stabilizer) to the water.
The manufacturer particularly recommends this treatment for swimming pools with soft water.
What are Chlorit Sticks used for?
Chlorit Sticks provide gradual chlorine release to help maintain pool water disinfection during regular maintenance. Their disinfecting action helps control microorganisms and limit algae growth.
They are especially useful when you want to avoid introducing additional cyanuric acid through routine chlorine treatment.
Unlike stabilized chlorine tablets, Chlorit Sticks do not increase the stabilizer concentration through the product itself. However, they do not remove cyanuric acid already present in the pool.
To learn more about the role of cyanuric acid, read our guide to pool stabilizer and its effects on chlorine.
Calcium hypochlorite also introduces calcium into the water. Monitoring calcium hardness is therefore important, particularly if your pool water is already hard.
Purissimeau Chlorit 5.4 kg is a different product from Cal’Hyp’O Hypomen 4.5 kg sticks. Their brands, pack sizes and product-specific instructions should not be treated as interchangeable.
Dosage and water parameters
How many Chlorit Sticks should you use?
Purissimeau recommends 1 stick of 300 g per 25 m³ of pool water, approximately every 4 to 5 days.
This is an indicative maintenance interval, not an automatic replacement schedule. Actual treatment requirements depend on pool volume, measured chlorine levels and operating conditions.
Before treatment, follow the water parameters specified in the manufacturer's technical documentation:
| Parameter | Manufacturer's guidance |
|---|---|
| pH | 7.0–7.4 |
| Chlorine level | 1.5–2 mg/L |
| Cyanuric acid (stabilizer) | Below 75 mg/L |
Test your pool water regularly before adding chlorine. The iopool 6-in-1 Pool & Spa Test Strips can help check free chlorine, pH, stabilizer and water hardness.
For pool volumes other than 25 m³, refer to the product label and water test results rather than automatically scaling the dosage.
How to use non-stabilized chlorine sticks
-
Test the pool water. Check pH, chlorine, cyanuric acid and pool volume. Assess calcium hardness where relevant.
-
Inspect the skimmer. Make sure it contains no other chemical products or incompatible treatment residues.
-
Add the Chlorit Stick. Place the stick in the skimmer according to the manufacturer's recommended dose and the instructions on the container.
-
Maintain water circulation. Operate the filtration system in accordance with the instructions for your pool installation and treatment.
-
Remove remaining plastic. Once the sticks have dissolved, collect any plastic material remaining in the skimmer, as instructed by Purissimeau.
-
Retest before replenishing. Monitor chlorine and the other relevant water parameters before deciding whether further treatment is necessary.
Important: never place Chlorit Sticks in a skimmer containing stabilized organic chlorine, slow-release or multifunction chlorine products, or shock chlorine tablets or granules. Mixing incompatible chlorine products can cause dangerous chemical reactions.
The manufacturer specifies skimmer application. Do not use an unapproved floating dispenser or another dosing device.

Safety precautions and storage
Chlorit Sticks are biocidal products that require careful handling.
-
Never mix with acids, stabilized chlorine products or incompatible chlorine-based chemicals.
-
Never pour water directly onto the concentrated product.
-
Prevent direct contact with pool liners and other synthetic pool surfaces.
-
Do not transfer the product out of its original container.
-
Store away from sunlight, heat, moisture and cold conditions.
-
Keep out of reach of children. Follow the protective equipment and disposal instructions on the product label.
-
Never reuse the empty container.
Use biocidal products safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Monitor your pool maintenance with iopool
The iopool app helps you monitor pool maintenance and identify when treatment may be required.
Combined with EcO Start, the iopool smart water analyzer, it provides access to measurements including pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and water temperature.
EcO Start does not directly measure free chlorine, cyanuric acid or calcium hardness. These parameters require separate water tests.
The app's maintenance recommendations do not replace the manufacturer's instructions for Chlorit Sticks.
Frequently asked questions
Do Chlorit Sticks lower existing cyanuric acid levels?
No. They do not add cyanuric acid to the pool, but they do not remove stabilizer already present in the water.
Are 300 g Chlorit Sticks compatible with EcOTab?
No. EcOTab is designed for 200 g or 250 g chlorine tablets, not these 300 g sticks.
Can Chlorit Sticks be used in a floating chlorine dispenser?
The manufacturer's documented application method is the pool skimmer. Do not use a floating dispenser unless the manufacturer explicitly confirms compatibility.
Can these chlorine sticks be used in hot tubs or spas?
The available technical documentation covers swimming pool applications, particularly pools with soft water. Specific suitability for hot tubs or spas has not been confirmed.
Should the plastic wrapper be removed before use?
Purissimeau instructs users to collect the remaining plastic from the skimmer after the sticks have dissolved. Follow the exact product label instructions concerning the wrapper before application.
