Pool Winterizing Liquid – Purissimeau Hivernage Super 5 L
Purissimeau Hivernage Super 5 L is a non-foaming liquid pool winterizing treatment designed to help maintain swimming pool water during the winter months.
It helps prevent algae growth, reduce the formation of limescale deposits and limit rust staining while the pool is closed or used less frequently.
Made in France, this seasonal treatment should be applied when the water temperature falls below 16°C. It is part of the pool winterization process and does not replace the precautions needed to protect equipment against freezing.
What does Hivernage Super do?
Pool water can develop algae and mineral deposits even when the pool is not being used.
Hivernage Super is a preventive treatment that helps to:
-
Limit algae growth throughout the winter.
-
Reduce the formation of calcium scale.
-
Prevent the appearance of rust stains.
-
Keep pool water in better condition ahead of spring reopening.
Its non-foaming formula contains no copper sulfate, EDTA or polyphosphates.
The product is designed to help prevent scale formation. It is not a descaler for removing existing deposits from filters, pipes or other equipment.
When should you use it?
According to the manufacturer, Hivernage Super should be used when the swimming pool water temperature drops below 16°C (61°F).
Before applying the treatment, thoroughly clean the pool and ensure that the water's pH is properly balanced.
The application procedure requires the filtration system to operate for 2 hours after the product has been added. This must be taken into account when planning passive winterization and shutting down the filtration system.
How much Hivernage Super do you need?
What is the recommended dosage for pool winterizing?
Purissimeau recommends 500 to 700 mL of Hivernage Super per 10 m³ of pool water.
| Pool volume | Product quantity |
|---|---|
| 10 m³ | 500–700 mL |
| 20 m³ | 1–1.4 L |
| 30 m³ | 1.5–2.1 L |
| 50 m³ | 2.5–3.5 L |
| 100 m³ | 5–7 L |
These quantities are proportional calculations based on the manufacturer's instructions.
Each container holds 5 L. You do not necessarily need to use the entire container for one swimming pool.
How to use Hivernage Super
-
Clean the pool thoroughly. Remove debris and clean the pool surfaces before winterization.
-
Check the water balance. Measure the pH and adjust it to a level appropriate for your pool water. Our guide to pool pH balance explains why this step matters.
-
Calculate the required quantity. Follow the dosage of 500–700 mL per 10 m³. If your pool uses chlorine treatment, do not add chlorine tablets during this winterizing operation, as specified by the manufacturer.
-
Add the liquid directly to the pool. Pour Hivernage Super into the water in front of the return jets.
-
Run the filtration system for 2 hours. Keep the water circulating to distribute the treatment throughout the pool.
In spring, uncover the pool as soon as favourable weather returns and resume your regular water treatment after completing the necessary reopening procedures.

Complete your winter preparations with iopool
Hivernage Super treats pool water during the winter season. It does not replace the steps needed to protect pipes, pumps and other equipment from frost damage.
If you have an EcO water monitor, follow the separate EcO winter storage instructions. Winterizing your pool water is not the same as preparing your EcO sensor for storage.
