Non-Stabilized Chlorine Sticks 300 g – 4.5 kg (Hypomen)

Cal’Hyp’O Hypomen non-stabilized chlorine sticks, supplied in a 4.5 kg bucket of 300 g sticks, are designed for routine disinfection of private swimming pool water.

Made with calcium hypochlorite, these slow-dissolving sticks gradually release chlorine to help maintain effective pool disinfection and control algae growth.

Unlike stabilized chlorine tablets, Hypomen Sticks do not add cyanuric acid (chlorine stabilizer) to pool water.

Why choose these non-stabilized chlorine sticks?

Hypomen Sticks offer a gradual chlorine-release format for regular private pool maintenance.

Key features include:

  • No added stabilizer: does not introduce cyanuric acid into the water.

  • Slow dissolution: designed for gradual chlorine release.

  • Convenient format: individual 300 g sticks supplied in a 4.5 kg bucket.

  • Disinfecting action: calcium hypochlorite-based product with 65% available chlorine.

Non-stabilized chlorine is useful when you want to avoid adding further cyanuric acid through your regular pool treatment.

However, it does not remove stabilizer already present in the water, and sunlight, pH and existing stabilizer levels can still influence chlorine performance.

When should you use this treatment?

These sticks are intended for the regular chlorination of private swimming pools, particularly when ongoing disinfection is needed without introducing additional cyanuric acid.

Treatment selection should also consider existing free chlorine levels, pool volume, pH, calcium hardness and the equipment used.

For more information, read our guide to stabilized versus non-stabilized chlorine.

How much chlorine should you use?

Each Hypomen stick weighs 300 g. This is the unit weight, not a universal dose suitable for every swimming pool.

The correct number of sticks and replacement frequency depend on the pool's water volume, measured chlorine concentration and the instructions on the product label.

Check pH and free chlorine regularly. Always follow the authorized dosing instructions for the specific product and market.

How to use the chlorine sticks

  1. Measure your pool's pH and free chlorine concentration.

  2. Determine pool volume and consult the dosing instructions on the container.

  3. Ensure the intended skimmer or treatment system is free from residues of other chemical products.

  4. Introduce the sticks using only the application method authorized on the product label, with filtration running where instructed.

  5. Monitor water parameters before deciding whether additional treatment is needed.

Do not use an unapproved floating dispenser or dosing device. These 300 g sticks are not compatible with EcO Tab.

Safety precautions and storage

DANGER — Oxidizing and corrosive biocidal product.

  • Never mix with other chemicals, including other chlorine treatments or acids. Dangerous chlorine gas may be released.

  • Never pour water directly onto concentrated product.

  • Do not allow the sticks to contact the pool liner or add them directly to the pool unless specifically authorized.

  • Wear suitable protective equipment and avoid contact with skin and eyes.

  • Keep in the original closed container, stored dry, away from heat and incompatible materials.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Prevent unused product from entering the environment.

This product may intensify fire, is harmful if swallowed, causes severe skin burns and eye damage, and is very toxic to aquatic life.

Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.

Monitor pool maintenance with iopool

The iopool app helps you monitor your pool and understand when maintenance may be required.

Combined with the EcO Start connected water analyzer, it uses measurements including pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and water temperature to support personalized maintenance recommendations.

EcO Start does not directly measure free chlorine, cyanuric acid or calcium hardness. These must be tested separately. The manufacturer's product instructions always take priority.

Frequently asked questions

Will these sticks reduce existing cyanuric acid?

No. They add no cyanuric acid, but they do not remove stabilizer already present in the swimming pool.

Are Hypomen Sticks the same as shock chlorine?

No. This format provides gradual chlorine release for maintenance. Shock treatments have different purposes and specific dosing instructions.

Can these chlorine sticks be used in a hot tub?

The available product documentation covers private swimming pools. Specific hot tub compatibility has not been confirmed.

Should the protective wrapper be removed?

Follow the instructions on the Hypomen container. Do not assume that wrapping instructions for another chlorine-stick brand also apply to this product.

How often should the sticks be replaced?

Replacement depends on the authorized dosage, water volume and actual chlorine measurements. Do not rely on a fixed interval without testing.
