Liquid Phosphate Remover for Pools – 1 L

Purissimeau Liquid Phosphate Remover – 1 L is a swimming pool water treatment designed to reduce phosphate levels. Phosphates are nutrients that can encourage algae growth when present in pool water.

By reducing phosphate availability, this liquid treatment helps limit conditions that support algae development. It can be used for corrective treatment or preventive maintenance alongside regular pool disinfection.

Why use a phosphate remover in your pool?

Phosphates can accumulate in pool water and provide nutrients for algae. Purissimeau phosphate remover is designed to reduce their concentration and help make pool maintenance easier.

It is important to distinguish phosphate removal from algae treatment. This product does not directly kill existing algae and does not replace your usual sanitiser or algaecide.

For other water treatment needs, browse the iopool pool chemicals range.

When should you use Purissimeau phosphate remover?

Use Purissimeau phosphate remover when a phosphate-specific water test shows that corrective treatment is needed. The product can also be used for weekly preventive maintenance, following the instructions for this formulation.

If algae are already present, treat and remove them before applying the phosphate remover. For practical advice, read the iopool guide Seven Ways to Get Rid of Green Algae.

Once the algae have been removed, measure the phosphate concentration using a dedicated phosphate test.

How much phosphate remover should you use?

For Purissimeau formulation 1697, the manufacturer's specified dosage is 15 mL per 10 m³ of pool water to reduce phosphates by 0.1 mg/L (100 ppb).

The required quantity depends on both the pool volume and the measured phosphate concentration.

Example: for a 100 m³ swimming pool with a phosphate concentration of 0.3 mg/L, the specified dose is 450 mL.

For preventive maintenance, the manufacturer recommends 15 mL per 10 m³ once a week, with the filtration system running for 24 hours.

These quantities apply specifically to formulation 1697. Other phosphate-removing products, including more concentrated formulations, may require different doses.

How to apply liquid phosphate remover

  1. Remove any existing algae using an appropriate treatment before applying the phosphate remover.

  2. Clean or backwash the filter as appropriate for your filtration system, then start filtration.

  3. Test the phosphate concentration with a dedicated test and calculate the required quantity.

  4. Shake the bottle before use.

  5. Distribute the liquid directly around the pool, preferably near the return jets.

  6. Keep filtration running for 24 hours, then measure the phosphate concentration again.

If the phosphate concentration remains high, repeat the procedure according to the new test result and the manufacturer's instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Does Purissimeau phosphate remover kill algae?

No. It reduces the phosphates that can support algae growth. Existing algae must be removed using an appropriate algae treatment.

How do I measure phosphate levels?

Use a dedicated phosphate test that reports results in mg/L or ppb. The iopool EcO Start analyser does not directly measure phosphates.

How often should I use this product?

For formulation 1697, preventive treatment is specified once a week. Corrective treatment depends on the measured phosphate concentration.

Can I repeat the treatment?

Yes. If phosphate levels remain high after 24 hours of filtration, reassess the concentration and follow the manufacturer's instructions before repeating the treatment.

Is this phosphate remover suitable for hot tubs or spas?

The available technical documentation specifies use in swimming pools. Suitability for hot tubs and spas has not been confirmed for this formulation.
