Pool chlorine demand never stays exactly the same. Sunlight, water temperature, rainfall, swimmers and organic contaminants can all influence how quickly chlorine is consumed.

With a traditional floating chlorine dispenser, tablets dissolve passively. You choose the opening and then have to monitor the water yourself to determine whether more or less chlorine is required.

EcoTab gives you greater control over this process. Its motorized dispensing system lets you decide when chlorine should diffuse and, when connected to EcO Start, can automatically respond to changes in the water’s disinfection potential.

EcoTab does not replace the other fundamentals of pool maintenance: filtration, pH balance, alkalinity and stabilizer still need to be monitored.

How does EcoTab work?

Fill EcoTab with compatible slow-dissolving chlorine tablets, place it in the pool and select the operating mode in the iopool app.

EcoTab offers four chlorine-control modes:

Manual mode

Choose a daily operating duration and keep direct control over chlorine diffusion.

Scheduled mode

Program operating periods throughout the week. This is particularly useful for coordinating chlorine dispensing with your pool routine and filtration schedule.

Boost mode

Temporarily increase chlorine diffusion after conditions that may increase chlorine demand, such as hot weather, heavy pool use or a storm.

Boost mode accelerates chlorine diffusion; it should not automatically be considered equivalent to every type of chemical shock treatment.

Regulation mode with EcO Start

Pair EcoTab with EcO Start and chlorine diffusion can be adapted automatically using ORP data measured in the pool.

EcO Start analyzes the water. EcoTab acts on chlorine diffusion. Together, they create an automated regulation system.

If your main goal is to replace a passive floating dispenser with a programmable smart chlorine dispenser, EcoTab can work independently.

Designed for 200 g and 250 g chlorine tablets

EcoTab is designed for standard slow-dissolving chlorine tablets and can hold:

• up to 5 × 200 g chlorine tablets;

• up to 3 × 250 g chlorine tablets.

How long a refill lasts depends on your pool volume, water conditions, weather, swimmer load, tablet composition and selected operating mode.

If you use stabilized chlorine tablets, remember that they also add cyanuric acid, or CYA, to the water. CYA protects chlorine from sunlight, but excessive stabilizer can reduce chlorine effectiveness. Your water balance should therefore still be checked regularly.

EcoTab is designed for chlorine tablets and is not compatible with bromine tablets.

Solar-powered and connected

EcoTab integrates a solar panel and an internal rechargeable battery. The battery is automatically recharged by solar energy, so no cable or routine manual charging is required during normal use.

For reliable operation, EcoTab should receive several hours of sunlight per day.

Connected functions and remote control also require suitable Wi-Fi coverage around the pool. The iopool app lets you configure the operating mode and manage chlorine dispensing without having to adjust the dispenser mechanically each day.

EcoTab does not directly measure free chlorine, correct pH, manage alkalinity or hardness, control your stabilizer level or replace your filtration system.

Can I use bromine tablets in EcoTab?

No. EcoTab is designed for chlorine tablets and does not support bromine treatment.

Does EcoTab replace pool water testing?

No. EcoTab manages chlorine diffusion. Other water parameters such as pH, alkalinity, hardness and stabilizer still need to be monitored. Pairing EcoTab with EcO Start adds continuous pH, temperature and ORP monitoring.

Is Boost mode the same as a chlorine shock treatment?

Not necessarily. Boost mode temporarily increases the speed of chlorine diffusion. A chemical shock treatment depends on your water condition, product used and required chlorine concentration, so the two concepts should not automatically be considered equivalent.
